My words, thoughts and photos from a Swedish perspective

Snowy road

This is one of the roads I use to drive on my way to the house in Kopparberg. It has become some sort of the tradition to stop and get out of the car for a couple of minutes. Not only to get a sip of fresh air but to listen to the silence. If no other cars are near, the silence is total – all one may hear is the wind in the treetops and that is a pleasant sound. This is when I start to relax.

Unfortunately the cold weather is back again. We had -20 degrees C on Sunday and Monday morning. Brrrr!

  1. I too love places like that! It looks much like some of our winter roads here too, although wider.

  4. Beautiful and serene and a great tradition it seems to stop, get out and enjoy the sounds of silence.

Montucky: Best of all, driving on that road is easier and often much cleaner than driving in the cities where the streets are full of sand and salt.

Silverylizard: Sweden is very small compared to the US, but we both have different kinds of landscapes and that’s something to be happy about. I would like to go north some day and capture some of the breathtaking beauty there.

Anna: Yep, snowy roads are great. Wait until the break of the frost comes – it usually means that they are less pleasant to drive on. Thanks for commenting.

Lynn: Taking a break and get out of the car for a couple of minutes is good for you after a couple of hours driving. 😉
