My words, thoughts and photos from a Swedish perspective

Signs and communication

Skylt 1

Signs have been used for centuries and was a convenient way for the inhabitants and possible customers to find the blacksmith, the bakery, the pharmacy and so on. Times have changed but we still use signs for passing on information to whom it may concern. They may convey messages like “buy” or “sell” or, as in this case, convey more complex information like “One way” – in other words “Do not enter”.

It seems like some have taken advantage of this and added their information as something extra. Generally speaking, I’m no big fan of deeds like these, but on the other hand, I also feel that it’s necessary to post things like that here as well.

Preston: Thank you. I think it is important to share life as it is. It may not mean much today, but in 25 or in 50 years from now, a couple of photos may become interesting documents of time. Besides, one shouldn’t hesitate to take less flattering photos of life; they are also important – one way or another.
