My words, thoughts and photos from a Swedish perspective

She is probably as far from a modern passenger ferry as one can get but still in service between Stockholm and Mariehamn. Originally one of the Olympic ferries, built to carry passengers to the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952, but was delivered from Finnboda Varv in 1953 as the last of three ferries ordered.

She has been modernised a number of times and is therefore a modern ship despite her oldfashioned look. Some love her, others hate her and think she ought to be scrapped or, at least, retired from active service. You can read more about her here.

I absolutely LOVE your winter photos, Steffan! Winter has skipped past us this season until today; the last measurable snow we had was in January with 4″ that melted the next day!
When I got out of bed at 8, the streets were wet with a dusting of snow on the grass……..hohum, I thought. It is now just passed 11:30 and there are 6”+ on the ground: that’s 2” per hour, which means we are in for a doozy, considering the storm is supposed to “let up” by dawn tomorrow!
OMG! Looking out the window just now and there is a white out: I can’t see my alleyway 75′ away!

Anyway, just wanted to stop by and say thanks for the comments at my blog and equally praise yours!
    All my best-
